Lorenz Hart

Lorenz Milton Hart was an American lyricist and the other half of the Broadway songwriting team Rodgers and Hart, with composer Richard Rodgers. Their partnership successfully produced 26 Broadway musicals. His lyrics often carried emotional depth and showcased his wit and technical prowess. Hart struggled with personal demons, including alcoholism, depression, and the societal pressures of being a closeted gay man in his era. Despite battling personal issues, Hart's work with Rodgers left a lasting legacy on the American Songbook. He died prematurely in 1943 at the age of 48 in New York City.
