Matteo D'Amico, Born in Rome on June 27, 1955, began his composition studies under Barbara Giuranna, later advancing at the Accademia Santa Cecilia guided by Luigi Andrea Gigante, Guido Turchi, and Irma Ravinale. He honed his craft under Franco Donatoni in Siena and Rome, earning diplomas with honors. His work gained international acclaim post winning several competitions in 1985, leading to performances by notable orchestras and at contemporary music series. With a penchant for the poetic and the staged, D'Amico's output spans opera, dance, and sacred music, characterized by a search for unique vocality. He has served as a professor, artistic director, and is a member of prestigious academies in Italy`[1]`.
