Ray Henderson, born Raymond Brost on December 1, 1896, was an American composer and significant figure in Tin Pan Alley. Part of the Henderson-Brown-De Sylva songwriting team, they produced feats like 'George White's Scandals' and musicals 'Good News', and 'Hold Everything!'. After 1930, Henderson collaborated with others, including Ted Koehler for the musical 'Say When'. His hits encompass 'Bye Bye Blackbird', 'Birth of the Blues', and 'Life Is Just a Bowl of Cherries'. Henderson contributed to Vaudeville, his final Broadway was 1943's Ziegfeld Follies. He retired in the late 1940s, passing away on December 31, 1970.
