More about Avril 14th
‘Avril 14th’ is Aphex Twin’s best-known piece of music, which, unlike the majority of the artist’s electronic work, features a piano. There is a catch, though. You’re not hearing just any old old piano in the song, but a self-playing one. Still, chances are that you want to play the piece yourself, and that’s where this Faber transcription comes in. It’s a simple piece in A-flat major, featuring a lyrical melody with a gently rolling accompaniment in the left hand. There are a lot of parallel octaves in the piece. It’s easy to play these with too much force - this piece is all about serenity, and you should take care to work through the material softly.
