Alec Rowley (1892-1958) was an English composer, organist, pianist, lecturer, and writer. His educational natured compositions and larger-scale orchestral and choral works marked him as a dedicated teacher and broadcaster. Rowley's work, largely designed for amateur performers, integrated into the repertoires of aspiring pianists. His influence aligned with contemporaries like John Ireland, with a musical style occasionally experimenting with modern harmonic forms. After his death, the Alec Rowley Memorial Prize was established at Trinity College of Music.
