Brian Higgins

Brian Michael Higgins, born on October 6, 1959, in Buffalo, New York, is an American former politician, serving as the U.S. representative for New York's 26th congressional district from 2005 until 2024. A member of the Democratic Party, Higgins is known for his moderate, pro-union stance and for advocating the strengthening of Social Security, supporting a public option for health insurance, and backing abortion rights. He has been a key figure in economic development and played a significant role in Northern Ireland's peace process. Higgins resigned from Congress on February 2, 2024.
