Burt Bacharach

Burt Freeman Bacharach was an American composer, songwriter, record producer, and pianist, celebrated as a seminal figure in 20th-century popular music. Starting in the 1950s, Bacharach composed hundreds of pop songs, many with lyricist Hal David. His music features unique chord progressions, time signature changes, and instrument selections for small orchestras. He won six Grammy Awards, three Academy Awards, and one Emmy. Bacharach's influence extended to easy listening and later musical movements such as chamber pop and Shibuya-kei.
