Christopher Vernon Hassall (24 March 1912 – 25 April 1963) was an English actor, dramatist, librettist, lyricist, and poet, known for his musical partnership with composer Ivor Novello. Educated at St Michael's College, Tenbury, Brighton College, and Wadham College, Oxford, Hassall was the son of illustrator John Hassall. He gained fame through the musicals crafted with Novello, such as 'Glamorous Night' and 'The Dancing Years', as well as for the lyrics to 'Shine Through My Dreams' and 'Fold Your Wings'. Hassall also recorded a poetry album with renowned voices of his time. His final years were spent at Tonford Manor near Canterbury.
