Dorothy Fields was an American librettist and lyricist, born on July 15, 1904 in Allenhurst, New Jersey. Known for over 400 songs for Broadway and films, her hits include 'The Way You Look Tonight' and 'Big Spender'. She collaborated with Jerome Kern, Cy Coleman, and others, significantly influencing American musical theater. Fields graduated from the Benjamin School for Girls and was deeply involved in show business through her family. Despite her father's opposition, she pursued a career in writing and performing, eventually partnering with acclaimed figures and garnering immense success with stage musicals and films. Fields passed away on March 28, 1974.
