More about Georg Philipp Telemann
Georg Philipp Telemann was a German Baroque composer and multi-instrumentalist, one of the most prolific composers in history. He was largely self-taught in music and, against his family's wishes, became a composer. After studying in Magdeburg, Zellerfeld, and Hildesheim, he attended the University of Leipzig with intentions to study law, but ultimately focused on music. Telemann held significant positions in Leipzig, Sorau, Eisenach, and Frankfurt before settling in Hamburg as the musical director of five main churches. His work is notable for blending French, Italian, and German styles, and for his influence on the transition from late Baroque to early Classical music.
