More about Girolamo Frescobaldi
Girolamo Alessandro Frescobaldi was an influential Italian composer and organist, born in September 1583 in Ferrara, Duchy of Ferrara. A child prodigy, he studied under Luzzasco Luzzaschi and went on to become the organist of St. Peter's Basilica. He travelled briefly to Flanders, but otherwise remained in Italy, working for powerful patrons like Cardinal Pietro Aldobrandini and the Barberini family. Frescobaldi's work, particularly his collections of keyboard music like Fiori musicali, influenced major composers including Johann Sebastian Bach. He died on 1 March 1643 in Rome.
