Heinz Karl "Nali" Gruber, born on January 3, 1943, in Vienna, Austria, is an iconic composer, conductor, double bass player, and singer, often associated with the Third Viennese School. Gruber gained initial musical exposure as a member of the Vienna Boys' Choir, followed by studies at the Vienna Hochschule für Musik. Gaining fame in 1978 with his 'pan-demonium' for chansonnier and orchestra, Frankenstein!!, Gruber is recognized as one of Austria's leading contemporary composers. He also contributes significantly as a performer and has been appointed as composer/conductor of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.
