Born in Eisenach as the last child of Johann Ambrosius, his early life was marked by musical education in Lüneburg after orphaned at age 10. His career spanned across Arnstadt, Mühlhausen, Weimar, Köthen, and Leipzig, where he composed significant works and faced professional conflicts.
