Nigel John Hess is a British composer born on 22 July 1953 in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, acclaimed for his work in television, theatre, and film. He has composed the theme tunes for series such as Campion, Maigret, and Hetty Wainthropp Investigates, among others. His scores for productions like Ladies in Lavender have garnered international acclaim. Educated at Cambridge University, Hess also became Music Director for the Footlights Revue Company. He has composed extensive scores for American and British TV, winning awards including the Ivor Novello and New York Drama Desk Awards. His concert music achievements are notable, including commissions for prestigious ensembles and celebrations.
