More about William Henry Harris
Sir William Henry Harris KCVO (1883-1973) was an English organist, choral trainer, and composer. Born in Fulham, London, he became a chorister at Holy Trinity, Tulse Hill, and soon pursued a musical career. Harris was particularly known for his roles as organist at St Augustine's Church, Edgbaston, and Lichfield Cathedral, as well as at New College and Christ Church, Oxford. Later, he significantly contributed at St George's Chapel, Windsor. His lasting impact includes teaching at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and the Royal College of Music, and conducting at two coronations. Harris's church music compositions remain influential, notably his anthems 'Faire is the heaven' and 'Bring us, O Lord God'.
